APEX is pleased to offer seven new educational sessions. The sessions vary from introductory material to the latest in how planners and suppliers are implementing APEX. We are scheduling sessions for 2009 and welcome the opportunity to provide high-quality, compelling education about APEX. Unlocking the APEX Initiative to Your Advantage
 
Description: This introductory session provides background information about The Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX), an initiative of the Convention Industry Council. The seminar will cover the history of APEX, goals of APEX and a full description of APEX. The session includes APEX accepted practices (seven practice areas including the APEX Glossary, contracts, housing and registration), the templates (RFP, ESG, and PER) and technology solutions (Toolbox and Power Shop™).
 
Target audience: Designed for audiences that are either unfamiliar with APEX or have only passing awareness. This session allows the audience to adopt some elements of APEX.
 
Standard length: One hour

The New Way to Execute Meetings: Planners & Suppliers Using APEX
 
Description: Come learn how planners and suppliers benefit when implementing APEX initiatives. We will share best practices from eight planner/supplier teams about how APEX benefitted the meeting planning and execution process. From simple to sublime, these best practices will help you make changes to your planning practices. Share your ideas for improving the planning process. 
 
Target audience: Seminar is a basic to intermediate presentation. Appropriate for supplier-only, planner-only or mixed audiences.

APEX – Elevating You to Peak Performance
 
Description: You can gain the respect of suppliers and stakeholders by elevating your current planning practices to conform to industry standards. Learn how APEX can save you time, money and hassle by adopting various elements of the APEX initiates. Learn about the benefits that you can achieve and that others in similar positions have already achieved. 
 
Target audience: Basic to mid-level presentation.  Focus is on the implementation of APEX initiatives. 
 
Standard length: Ninety minutes

Doing More with Less – Powered by APEX
 
Description: If you are challenged with juggling many tasks and managing multiple meetings, APEX offers you great solutions. Current meeting planning practices are riddled with inefficiencies. APEX solutions delivered via two technology platforms (Power ShopTM and Toolbox) help avoid duplication of efforts and allow you to reposition and reuse information. During this workshop you will discover the inefficiencies in your current practices. Explore how you can calculate and estimate wasted time on rekeying, duplication, data transfer, and reviewing of the transactions required when executing meetings.
 
Target Audience: Seminar is an intermediate-level presentation.

Advanced APEX: Beyond the Basics
 
Description: APEX represents the best practices for the industry. This seminar explains how you can maximize your own influence to drive industry change. Learn how to position APEX to your suppliers. The seminar also provides the vision of APEX as an electronic data interchange platform. We also discuss what third-party providers (Delphi, StarCite, Certain, CVENT) are doing to become APEX compliant.  Learn how the vision of APEX is unfolding…from a technology perspective to new initiatives (trade shows, green, etc.).  The format of the seminar will allow for Q & A and R (Questions, answers and recommendations).
 
Target Audience: This advanced seminar is appropriate for audiences that are already using some of the initiatives of APEX.  The seminar helps knowledgeable users maximize the full potential of APEX. It is desirable that many in the audience use or are interested in using one of the technology platforms (Toolbox or PowerShop) but want to do more.

How Suppliers can Drive Change – Using APEX to Improve your Operation (for suppliers)
 
Description: This session provides background information about The Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX), an initiative of the Convention Industry Council from the perspective of suppliers. This seminar is appropriate for any organization composed of professionals who supply goods and services to the meeting industry. This seminar covers the history of APEX, goal of APEX and a full description of what APEX includes.  The session will cover APEX accepted practices (seven practice areas including the APEX Glossary, contracts, housing and registration), the templates (RFP, ESG, and PER) and technology solutions (Toolbox and Power ShopTM). 
 
Target audience: Designed for supplier audience that desire to learn more about APEX or bring APEX practices into their businesses.

Experience APEX (Computer Labs)
 
Description: Hands on presentation where all participants have the opportunity to use either Power ShopTM or Toolbox. The lab format is designed to increase people's comfort level with the technology solutions, share best practices and see firsthand how APEX can streamline their planning process.
 
Target Audience: Appropriate for any level with interest in using technology to their advantage and create more efficient planning processes.
 
Standard Length: Two hours
